If you can see this, I did something wrong

The Books on the Nightstand move to Wordpress is complete, and if I did everything correctly, it should be a seamless transition for everyone. But if you are seeing this message, it means I screwed something up. If that is the case, please accept my apologies. You can still reach Books on the Nightstand at http://www.booksonthenightstand.com/, but if you want to be notified of updates, you will need to visit us there and resubscribe to our feed.

One of the things I am not sure about is how the "followers" of this blog (the ones who have their icons in the sidebar) actually get the site updates. I am eager to see if this post shows up in your blog list. Please let me know.

As always, we can be reached at comments@booksonthenightstand, for any questions or concerns. I do hope you'll make the transition with us to our new site. Wordpress allows us to do much more than Blogger ever did, like have the much-requested index of all of the books we've talked about since Books on the Nightstand began. You can find that under the tab that says "Book Index" over at our new home, so please visit us there. All of our "older" content is there as well.

There will be no further updates here.

Many thanks!

Ann

Warning: You may experience some wonkiness

Books on the Nightstand may be down, or look strange or broken, from January 1st through January 3rd, 2010. Happy New Year, right? Trust us, it's a good thing. If you want the details, see below, but if you don't care, just know that we hope to be fully up and running by January 4th. Thanks for your patience.

For the past year, we've wanted to move our blog from the Blogger platform to self-hosted Wordpress. It's taken 6 months to get up the courage to actually make the move. Our hand has been forced by the discontinuation of Haloscan, the third-party comments system that we use. If we don't make a change now, we could lose all of your very valuable comments that you've left over the past 18 months.

Evidently, Ann drank enough eggnog on New Year's Eve to find the fortitude to dive in and make the change. She doesn't really know what she's doing, but she's going to give it a shot anyway. Please keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks.
