Way, Way, WAY More!

more books than FB friends

Random House has created a fun promotion for E.L. Doctorow's new book Homer & Langley. The book is a fictionalized look at the "truth is stranger than fiction" Collyer Brothers. You can find out more about the real-life Collyer Brothers here, but suffice to say, they were packrats, amassing over 100 tons of "stuff," mostly books and newspapers, and it killed them. Random House has set up a Facebook group called "I have more books than Facebook Friends." They're also running a contest. Take a picture of your literary clutter and you might win a signed, first edition of Homer & Langley. Full details here.

I definitely have way more books than FB friends. I am absolutely a literary hoarder and it's beginning to be a problem. I'm running out of room and need to stop bringing books home. I've heard of folks who institute a "one book in, one book out" policy and I just may have to do that. Honestly, mine should probably be "one book in, four books out," but I can't quite commit to that.

So, head on over and check out the group, snap a pic of your leaning towers of books and maybe you'll win! While you're over on Facebook, become a fan of Books on the Nightstand if you haven't already!
